Deep groove ball bearings are the most widely used bearing type and are particularly versatile. They have low friction and are optimized for low noise and low vibration which enables high rotational speeds. They accommodate radial and axial loads in both directions, are easy to mount, and require less maintenance than other bearing types.
Single row deep groove ball bearings
Single row deep groove ball bearings are the most widely used bearing type. They are available capped (with seals or shields) or open. Open bearings that are also available capped may have recesses in the ring side faces.

| 6900 Series (Thin Section / ISO 19) | Positioned between the 6800 and 6000 series, offering a great balance between space constraints and load capacity. | Power tools, automotive wiper motors, and small household appliances. |
| 16000 Series (Ultra-Narrow / Extra-Light) | Extremely narrow width. Shares a similar OD with the 6000 series but features a significantly reduced width (thickness). It delivers minimal friction torque and excellent high-speed performance, though axial load capacity is reduced. | Automotive gearboxes/transmissions, compact rotating mechanisms with strict axial width limits, and lightweight drivetrains. |
| 16100 Series (Special Narrow / Legacy) | A specialized narrow series. Less common in modern standard catalogs of top-tier brands; often found in legacy machinery, specific automotive components, or proprietary custom designs. | Maintenance of older equipment, specialized automotive components, or custom electric motors. |

Clearance
Bearing Clearance (or internal clearance) refers to the total distance by which one bearing ring can be moved relative to the other in either the radial direction (Radial Clearance) or the axial direction (Axial Clearance).
Proper selection of bearing clearance is a critical factor influencing bearing performance, including operating life, noise, vibration, and heat generation.
Standard standard-sized deep groove ball bearings (bore diameter d ≥ 10mm) utilize the standard ISO/GB clearance groups ranging from C2 (tightest) to CN (normal), and up to C3, C4, and C5 (looser). Conversely, miniature bearings (outer diameter D < 9mm and bore diameter d < 10mm) follow the MC system, spanning from MC1 up to MC6.

Selecting the ideal clearance requires a balance of operating conditions:
- Normal Clearance (CN / MC3): The default factory setting used for general electrical motors and standard applications.
- Tight Clearance (C2 / MC1 / MC2): Ideal for high-precision oscillatory parts, low-noise drives, or applications requiring high rigidity where play must be minimized.
- Loose Clearance (C3 / C4 / C5 / MC4 / MC5 / MC6): Essential for high-speed rotations, large temperature differentials (to compensate for thermal expansion), or heavy shaft interference fits.

Cage
1. Sheet Metal Cage (Pressed / Stamped Steel Cage)
This is the most widely used standard cage for deep groove ball bearings. It is manufactured by stamping and pressing high-quality steel sheets, typically formed into a two-piece ribbon or crown shape and then riveted or clamped together. Characterized by its lightweight design, minimal space consumption, and high structural strength, it offers low friction and excellent heat resistance under standard operating conditions. It is ideal for general industrial applications, electric motors, and automotive components operating under conventional speeds and loads.

2. Non-Metallic Cage (Polymer / Polyamide / Resin Cage)
Manufactured predominantly through injection molding using advanced engineering plastics—most commonly glass-fiber reinforced polyamide 66 (PA66-GF25)—this cage is engineered for modern high-efficiency applications. It features lightweight properties, high elasticity, and outstanding sliding characteristics, which significantly reduce friction, heat generation, and operational noise. It runs exceptionally quiet and performs well in high-speed environments. It is highly suitable for household appliances, precision instruments, and high-rpm electric drive systems within a standard temperature range of -40°C to +120°C .

3.Machined Brass Cage
A premium, heavy-duty cage produced through precision machining (turning and milling) from solid brass alloys. Guided either by the balls or the ring lands, it provides exceptional structural rigidity, superior wear resistance, and excellent self-lubricating properties. It is specifically designed to withstand extreme operating conditions, including severe vibrations, heavy shock loads, high centrifugal forces, and elevated temperatures. This cage is the preferred choice for large-sized bearings, heavy machinery, railway axles, and critical industrial gearboxes where operational reliability is paramount.

Double row deep groove ball bearings
Double row deep groove ball bearings are very suitable for bearing arrangements where the load carrying capacity of a single row bearing is inadequate. For the same bore and outside diameter, double row bearings are slightly wider than single row bearings in the 62 and 63 series, but have a considerably higher load carrying capacity.
Double row deep groove ball bearings are only available as open bearings (without seals or shields).

Cages
SKF double row deep groove ball bearings are fitted with two snap-type, ball centred glass fibre reinforced PA66 cages (designation suffix TN9).
